Clouded Yellow

Clouded Yellow - Butterflies
Flight period: mid May to mid October.

The Clouded Yellow is a highly migratory species and an annual migrant to the UK. Numbers vary enormously from year to year but they are only common and widespread in "Clouded Yellow summers" every 10 years or so. As they are migrants, they can be found anywhere but they do favour chalk downlands.
