“Drakkar”, Skagen, near Vardø, Troms og Finnmark, Norway

“Drakkar” is a striking and unique wooden sculpture that combines a Viking ship, a whale and a dinosaur. It was built in July 2016 by 3 young art students from Arkhangelsk in north west Russia during the Pomor Festival in the town of Vardø. "Drakkar" was one of many art projects during the festival.
“Drakkar” is located on a hill in Skagen on the island of Vardøya to the north of Vardø and it overlooks Bussesundet, the wide sea strait that separates Vardøya to the east from the mainland to the west.
“Drakkar”, meaning dragon, is a fictional name used for a Viking ship and the sculpture has the stem of a Viking ship including the dragon head.
