La Madre de las Marismas is the large, shallow lagoon and marshland area overlooked by the village of El Rocío on the north western edge of the Parque Nacional de Doñana. Water levels permitting, it can host huge numbers of birds including flamingos, herons and egrets, storks, other wading birds and ducks.
