Kvaløya and Sommarøy

Kvaløya is an island in the Norwegian municipality of Tromsø. It has an area of 285 square miles, making it the 5th largest island in mainland Norway.

Kvaløya is connected to Tromsøya island in the east by the Sandnessund Bridge, Ringvassøya in the north by the undersea Kvalsund Tunnel and Sommarøy in the west by Sommarøy Bridge.

Kvaløya is a mountainous island with at least 10 mountains higher than 2300 feet and 3 reaching a height of more than 3280 feet of which the highest is Store Blåmann at 3425 feet. There are also several small fjords almost dividing the island in two or three parts.

Sommarøy is a small populated island in the municipality of Troms in north Norway. It is connected to Kvaløya by the Sommarøy Bridge.
