Canada Goose goslings
The Canada Goose is a large goose with a distinctive black head and neck and a large white throat patch. It is an introduced species from North America and has successfully spread to cover most of the UK. It forms noisy flocks and is often regarded as a nuisance in areas where large numbers occur on amenity grassland and parks.

They breed in short vegetation near pools and lakes and on islands in lakes and gravel pits.

Canada Geese can be found all the year round but during winter occasional birds of small races are seen with other wild geese species in Northern Ireland and Western Scotland and these may be vagrant wild birds.
