Viikki-Vanhankaupunginlahti Nature Reserve, Helsinki, Finland

Viikki-Vanhankaupunginlahti Nature Reserve is the most important nature reserve in Helsinki and among the most valuable conservation areas on the coastal Gulf of Finland. It is included on the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance and lies around Vanhankaupunginlahti Bay, a reed-fringed sea inlet. It consists of the mouth of the Vantaa river with its accompanying floodplain forests, alder marshes and coastal meadows and can be accessed and viewed by a network of trails and birdwatching towers.
