Badger

Badgers are widespread in the UK but are most common in south west England, rare in East Anglia and only thinly distributed in Scotland.

Badgers are nocturnal and are rarely seen during the day. When they are not active, they usually lie up in an extensive system of underground tunnels and nesting chambers known as a sett. Badgers live in social groups of 4 to 12 adults.

This Badger was photographed at a "wildlife watch" arranged by Speyside Wildlife in Rothiemurchus in the Scottish Highlands.
