Red Grouse

The Red Grouse is a medium-sized game bird that breeds in the UK uplands of the north and west. They are resident all year round travelling very little in their lives. The population is declining, perhaps linked to diseases and the loss of heather moorland.
Red Grouse breed on heather moorland, upland bogs, rough grazing land and coastal heaths. They may move down to farmland to feed in snowy weather.
