The Endla Nature Reserve is located in central Estonia about 40 miles north west of Tartu and it was established in 1981 to protect a complex of bogs, fens, pools, lakes, rivers, reedbeds, meadows and wet and dry forests. It is also included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.

The Endla Nature Reserve is a large wilderness area of over 31 square miles and much of it is very difficult to access but it can mainly be explored from the visitor centre at Tooma which is about 20 miles north west of Jõgeva.
